The innovative CoolSculpting® procedure is a unique, non-invasive process that utilizes advanced cooling technology as a means to gently eliminate fat from certain areas of a patient’s body.

This procedure is possible through a new technology called Cryolipolysis®. The CoolSculpting® procedure in Fort Lauderdale does not require any anesthesia or incisions.

The CoolSculpting® technique that Dr. Kaplan uses at his facility in Fort Lauderdale can reduce a layer of fat without causing harm to the surrounding skin or any other tissues.

The Cryolipolysis® procedure cools adipose tissue inducing the fat cells to breakdown (lipolysis). Over a period of two to four months, patients will notice that their layers of fat treated with the CoolSculpting® system at Dr. Kaplan’s office in Fort Lauderdale are shrinking.

How Cryolipolysis® Works

Based on the findings of two dermatologists (Richard Rox Anderson, MD and Dieter Manstein, MD,PhD), investigators deduced that selective fat cell reduction can be induced using prolonged controlled local tissue cooling; thus allowing for the consequential loss of subcutaneous fat without causing any damage to the overlying skin. This discovery was the stepping-stone for the development of the technology behind the CoolSculpting® procedure.

Cooling by way of energy extraction brings about cell apoptosis. This is a controlled, natural cell death. The death of these fat cells causes inflammatory mediators to be released, which progressively gets rid of the affected fat cells.

During the months following the CoolSculpting® procedure, the inflammatory cells digest these fat cells reducing the amount of fat in the treated areas.

Just like the fat an individual consumes, the lipids from these cells are gradually released. Upon release, they are transported via the body’s lymphatic system. These lipids are then processed and eliminated. Because the body is gradually clearing these lipids there are no harmful changes in liver function or blood lipids.

CoolSculpting® stands alone in that it does not cause the necrotic death of the cell like the high-intensity ultrasounds, excessive heat and chemical injections can. Each of these approaches poses potential challenges. The effectiveness of these other procedures is also unsure. On the contrary, the CoolSculpting® technique targets particular fat cells and then gradually reduces the layer of fat while preserving other tissues in that area.

Benefits of the CoolSculpting® Procedure in Fort Lauderdale

The CoolSculpting® treatment in Fort Lauderdale generally lasts between one and three hours. While receiving treatment, a patient can work on their laptop, read, listen to music or take advantage of the time and just relax.

Very Little Downtime Following a CoolSculpting® Procedure

Because CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive procedure; patients can usually resume their regular activities on the same day of their CoolSculpting® procedure in Fort Lauderdale. This makes CoolSculpting® a great choice for patients who are interested in a non-surgical alternative to the liposuction procedure.
