Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty)

Is your neck giving away your age? The neck is typically one of the first places to reveal aging. As your skin ages, it loses elasticity, and the result can be excess skin that droops and causes what some refer to as “turkey neck.” Additionally, if you’ve lost a significant amount of weight, you may find that you have band lines or folds on your neck. A neck lift can take away your excess skin and folds and give you a younger appearance.

If you are considering a neck lift, call the office of Dr. Chance Kaplan in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Kaplan is a skilled plastic surgeon with decades of experience and a proven track record. His results are remarkable and look completely natural. While people will notice your improved appearance, most will never guess that you’ve had surgery. In addition to providing a more youthful and revitalized look to his patients in the U.S., Dr. Kaplan is also generous with his time and his skill and helps to provide life-changing surgeries to people around the world through charities such as World Journey of Hope and Operation Smile.

Your Neck Lift Consultation

Your journey to a more youthful you begins when you call our Fort Lauderdale office and schedule your consultation with Dr. Kaplan. At this consultation, Dr. Kaplan will review your medical history and discuss your concerns about your appearance as well as the results you would like to see from your neck lift.

After reviewing the surgery and what it entails, you and Dr. Kaplan will work together to decide if a neck lift surgery is the right choice for you. Once you have made your decision to pursue neck lift surgery, your surgery will be scheduled at either the surgical suite in our Fort Lauderdale office or at one of Fort Lauderdale’s excellent hospitals.

Dr. Kaplan will provide you with instructions for self-care following your surgery. He will also review your current list of medications. You may be asked to stop taking certain medications that could increase the risk of complications during your surgery, and you will be provided with prescriptions for medications you will need following the surgery.

The Neck Lift Procedure

Many neck lift procedures also include liposuction to remove excess fat deposits so that the skin will sit smoothly. If band lines are a concern, your surgery will also include a procedure to tighten your muscles. Excess skin will be carefully trimmed away. Some people also opt to get other procedures done in conjunction with a neck lift such as a face lift or a brow lift.

Many neck lifts are performed endoscopically, which allows for smaller incisions and less scarring. Dr. Kaplan will very carefully place your incisions in such a way that they are mostly hidden. Working through your incisions, Dr. Kaplan will repair your neck muscles and remove excess fat. Once your contours are correct, your skin will be pulled taut and excess skin will be trimmed before the incisions are closed.

Following Your Neck Lift Surgery

In the days following your neck lift, you will likely experience discomfort, bruising and swelling. The swelling will initially obscure your results, but once the swelling goes down, you will be able to appreciate the difference in your appearance. Take your prescriptions as instructed to reduce your discomfort and your swelling.

Follow Dr. Kaplan’s instructions for caring for your incisions and yourself. Your recovery may last for 10 days or more depending on the amount of work you had done and if the muscles of your neck were involved. Do not attempt to return to your regular level of activity too soon as this could cause complications and slow your healing.

Keep all of your follow-up appointments at our Fort Lauderdale office so that Dr. Kaplan can check your progress and your healing.
